jason%20mooreFrom the time I was a young boy, I have always had a deep love and respect for the ocean. I grew up in Hartsville, South Carolina and began coming to the Myrtle Beach area since before the age of one. Having various relatives with homes in the area, Garden City specifically became my second home. Any chance given, I would find myself making the two-hour car ride to head to the beach for the weekend. Around the age of ten or eleven, I began body boarding which later evolved into surfing. On top of surfing, fishing and boating became a favorite past time as well with our family.

After graduating high school, I was accepted to Coastal Carolina University and in the fall of 2003 I graduated with a Bacherlors degree in Art Studio. My time at Coastal exposed me to the basic techniques of oil and watercolors. Painting specifically became a passion of mine.

Succeeding graduation, I landed a full time job which put my painting on a temporary hold. After taking a two year hiatus, I gradually began painting again. About three or four paintings later a friend of mine offered to do some reproductions of my work. This paved the way for me to start selling my work locally and exibit in local galleries and shows. Each year I continue to build my portfolio with an average anywhere from five to ten paintings a year.

These days I live in the Myrtle Beach area and am married to my wife DeAnna and together have a little girl Rowan. It can be tough at times to balance family time and my regular job with painting, but I do the best I can with it. Each year I find myself getting a little more ambitious with my artwork, so who knows what the future holds!

Currently my medium is acrylic on canvas which seems to be the most satisfactory for my needs when space and time are an issue. My paintings mainly consist of lifestyle experiences of things I grew up doing including surfing, fishing and boating. Living around the inlet, the subject matters are endless. I find it handy to always have a camera around to shoot the latest afternoon sunset on the boat or next fishing trip. With all of the resources around, the only hard part in starting a new painting is narrowing down the choices.

Most of my work has a similar technique. I try to demonstrate the movement and flow of water using small "squiggly" lines layered on top of one another. Instead of blending colors for depth, I like to layer color upon color with various shapes and lines. Generally I like to put a little different spin on the way a traditional "seascape" or "landscape" is painted using a more abstract technique with a hint of realism. People have commented on the consistency of this style in my paintings...

I have a passion for artwork because of the freedom to create and express personal ideas, which presents a rewarding feeling when finished.
